The popularity and demand for live streaming has increased massively over the past 18 months. For some, it might be a simple single camera setup going straight to YouTube or Facebook, while for others it’s a multi-camera production, feeding into a video mixer with graphics and overlays, streaming to multiple platforms.
As mentioned in a previous blog (Live-streaming with Datavideo), Datavideo has a wide range of live streaming production tools that cater for many different applications. Now the company has released a new all-in-one live-streaming mixer that sits between a streaming novice and an experienced operator.
The KMU-200 takes a single 4K camera input and, via its 14” touch screen display, allows you to break that up into 4 separate HD images. You can resize and reposition them anywhere within that 4K shot, either directly on the touch screen or with the joystick and zoom rocker on the right-hand side. You can then cut between them, just like you would with a standard video mixer.
You can also cut to an HD version of the 4K wide shot and bring a computer output (or a second HD camera) in as well, effectively making the KMU-200 a 6-channel mixer! For recording and streaming, the KMU-200 has an SD card slot, allowing you to record HD video at up to 16Mb/s; its built-in H.264 video encoder enables streaming at up to 8Mb/s. Setting up the streaming destinations for the KMU-200 is done by accessing its enhanced menu settings via a web browser and entering a few details of the website you would like to stream to.
Also included on the KMU-200 are professional XLR and phono audio inputs for microphones or perhaps an output from an audio desk, as well as 2 HDMI outputs for monitoring. For houses of worship, and live music events, the KMU-200 would be a great option for anyone who is looking to expand on their single camera set-up but does not have the budget for a mixer, PTZ controller and all of the additional cameras; or perhaps just doesn’t have the room/ability to accommodate all of that equipment plus the cable routing. The KMU-200 is available now from our resellers.
