This hybrid Full-frame mirrorless camera, provides exceptional image quality for photo and video across the sensitivity range within an ergonomic body designed for the quality conscious content creator.
The CMOS Sensor has been optimised to deliver exceptional image quality for both stills and video, while the Dual Native ISO provides a greater level of flexibility when shooting in lower light conditions without the usual increase in visible noise when shooting video.
Whether you prefer shooting using the full touch capabilities of the 3.0inch 1.84Mio. dot Free-angle LCD in both recording and playback modes or the OLED Live Viewfinder have confidence in what you are shooting. The Timelapse and Stop-Motion features offer you that a little extra creativity while the improved High Resolution Mode photos can now be saved directly as a JPEG for extremely detailed, 96-megapixel-equivalent images for those moment when resolution is everything.
The needs of the content creator vary from job to job, the LUMIX S5 includes recording modes 4K 60p 4:2:0 10-bit and 4K 30p 4:2:2 10-bit — plus 4K 8-bit with no limitation of video recording time. In the 10-bit setting, 4:2:2 10-bit HDMI output is supported along with simultaneous external drive / SD card recording, means flexibility and creativity are available whenever you head out on a shoot.
Image Stabilisation is a requirement for content creators on the run. The 5-axis Dual I.S. II system combines In-body and lens stabilisation giving you up to 6.5 stops of benefit on the LUMIX S5, giving you greater confidence that you will get the shot you need.
Creative options at your fingertips, the LUMIX S5 gives you a range of features and functions that will help your ability to tell stories in new and creative ways. V-Log and V-Gamut come preinstalled. With 14+ stops of dynamic range and a wide colour gamut, performance to rival high-end production cameras.
The updated Auto-Focus system in the LUMIX S5 offers all the inherent benefits of a contrast based AF system with improved tracking performance. The updated system features high-speed, high-precision AF, and deep learning technology for recognition of human bodies, heads, faces and eyes as well as animals, for improved reliability.
The LUMIX S5 is 30% lighter than the S1 weighing only 714g and smaller than the GH5 without compromising on image quality for either stills or video, featuring a premium design and build quality, with a magnesium alloy frame and splash and dust resistance* construction providing you with peace of mind when shooting in a range of environments.

The LUMIX S5 camera is using the L-Mount lens mount standard allowing to choose from a wide range of high quality lenses from Panasonic, Leica and Sigma.

If like me you’ve invested in Panasonic Micro 4/3 format, what might make you consider moving up to full frame? 35mm stills photography has been with us since 1905 and the aesthetic has had a few generations to take root in our collective imaginations. 35mm film was invented by a Scotsman with too many names - William Kennedy Laurie Dickson (a Thomas Edison collaborator). He was saving money by slicing 70mm film (designed for movie cameras) in half to use for still photography.
