Are you Netflix 4K ready?

Netflix only started in 1997 and this year they plan to spend over $6,000,000,000 on original production.  YES that’s $6 Billion!

Netflix has a reputation for both quality and innovation and that’s why they stipulate technical requirements for all this new production in great detail. Here are Netflix Production and Post Production Requirements v2.1

Holdan distributes many of the cameras on this prestigious list, from both Panasonic and Blackmagic Design.

Panasonic Varicam 35 and Varicam LT have both been used on major Netflix productions like ‘Orange is the New Black’, ’13 Reasons Why’ and ‘Frontier’.  With 14+ Stops of dynamic range and exceeding 2020 Colour gamut they are a natural choice for new high end productions that need to be futureproof.

Now the Blackmagic Design Ursa Mini 4.6 is included in the list (as long as you shoot RAW). As the sensor and codec are exactly the same for the latest Ursa Mini Pro camera this will be sure to join the list along with the Panasonic EVA1 in the next revision.

Now HDR production is the norm, SmallHD’s ever increasing range of HDR Monitors and Teradek’s onset tools like COLR are proving vital to the new workflows laid out in the Netflix documents that can be found here.

Give us a call if you want to test any of our Netflix-ready kit!
