Portable External GPU (eGPU) Docks for Intel-based Mac Computers with Thunderbolt 3 Ports
Do you have an Intel®-based MacBook Air®, MacBook Pro®, Mac mini®, iMac® or iMac Pro with Thunderbolt™ 3 ports? If you need to run pro editing, rendering, colour grading, animating and special effects apps, you need a graphics processing (GPU) power boost. Whether your computer completely lacks a discrete internal GPU or has a GPU without enough power to adequately support the needs of your current workflow, Sonnet has a pair of solutions that will instantly boost your computer’s graphics performance anytime and anywhere you need it. Why not pack a Puck?!
Both eGPU Breakaway Puck models are Thunderbolt Certified and include a Thunderbolt 3 cable to connect the system to your computer.
eGPU Breakaway Pucks deliver powerful GPU acceleration, packing big performance into a conveniently small and quiet package. They provide plug and play support, enabling connection to and disconnection from your computer without having to power cycle it, and enable you to use the professional video applications you need with the computer you want or already own.
Leveraging macOS® extended desktop mode, the eGPU Breakaway Puck supports up to four 4K displays at the same time*, configured for the perfect productivity and gaming setups. With the Puck connected, there’s no need to compromise between the light notebook you want and the number of displays you need in your workspace.
*Support for more than three displays requires a Sonnet Thunderbolt 3 Dual Display adapter (sold separately)
The eGPU Breakaway Puck’s second Thunderbolt port provides both graphics and data to fully support all popular Thunderbolt/USB-C displays.
Both Pucks provides enough power to drive advanced 5K and 6K displays, even supporting Apple's Pro Display XDR.
eGPU Breakaway Pucks include two USB 3.2 Type A ports, enabling you to connect peripherals to your computer without using another port on the computer.
Measuring a compact 6 inches wide by 5.1 inches deep by 2 inches tall, the eGPU Breakaway Puck has a minimal footprint on the desktop and is the right size to compliment your thin/light notebook.
Sonnet’s eGPU Breakaway Pucks are extremely portable, high-performance, all-in-one external GPU docks for Intel-based Thunderbolt 3 Mac® computers. Perfect for use with computers with integrated or low-power discrete graphics processors, a Puck accelerates popular graphics-intensive pro applications on either your computer’s own or externally connected display.
When you need GPU acceleration on the go, you can easily pack an eGPU Breakaway Puck with your MacBook in a backpack or computer bag. Connected to your computer with the included Thunderbolt 3 cable, a Puck provides 60W of Power Delivery, which means it will power and charge your computer(1) while connected, even when not in use, allowing you to leave your computer’s power adapter behind. Wherever you use it, the Puck injects big GPU power into your work.
(optional VESA mounting bracket)
Using the optional PuckCuff VESA Mounting Bracket Kit, you can free up desk space and mount the Puck to the back of a monitor with open VESA mounting holes (VESA 75 and VESA100 hole patterns supported). The bracket is secured with included fasteners and specialized cable ties, and provides simple cable management. To further reduce cable clutter, a 0.5-meter DisplayPort cable is included to connect between the Puck and your display. The kit also includes parts that enable the bracket to be attached to virtually any multi-monitor stand’s upright or monitor arm.
With up to 2750 MB/s available PCIe bandwidth(1), your computer’s Thunderbolt 3 ports are fast enough to support externally connected graphics processors. The Puck exploits the Thunderbolt 3 interface to deliver a powerful graphics processing boost to your notebook with integrated graphics onboard—and power and charge it—all through a single cable.
Offers Great Value and Portability for Gaming An eGPU Breakaway Puck is ideal for enabling graphic-intensive gaming at higher frame rates on your Mac with integrated graphics that otherwise would deliver a poor gaming experience. Accelerated graphics can either be displayed on one, two, three, or four(2) external monitors, or on your computer’s own display(3).
