RAID 5 Benefits
RAID 5 drive set configuration offers critical security that RAID 0 lacks. A RAID 0 configuration (data striped across all the drives with no redundancy) delivers the best data transfer speeds, but the tradeoff BASIC RAID 5 STORAGE SYSTEMS is that if a drive fails, all the data on the volume may be lost. A RAID 5 configuration (data striped across all the drives with parity across all members) still delivers great performance, but should a single drive fail, the data on the volume is retained. Replacing the failed drive will restore the volume back to normal. RAID 5 support in Fusion D400QR5 and R400QR5 is provided by the integrated RAID controller, so a specialized controller card is not required.
One Cable, All the Data
Fusion D400QR5 and R400QR5 enclosures require just a single locking data cable to connect to a SATA host controller card, such as Sonnet's Tempo SATA E4P, Tempo SATA X4P, or Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34. This efficient interface simplifies setup and cuts cable clutter without compromising performance.
No SATA?
No problem-connected via a single FireWire 800, FireWire 400, or USB cable, all four drives can be accessed at the full speed of the respective interface. To keep things simple, Sonnet includes all four interface cables in the package.
