To promote the potential of live HD streaming, Holdan is announcing a special offer for buyers of Panasonic’s acclaimed AG-AC160a and AC130a camcorders. With new camera purchases, customers will receive a complimentary VidiU, a live webstreaming device from Teradek which enables users to transmit quickly, inexpensively and at high quality to users around the world.

The recent trend in ENG camcorders is for connected devices, with innovative systems such as Panasonic’s HPX600 camcorder offering port options that include WiFi and Ethernet as well as SDI and HDMI. As a result, uploading video remotely, transferring data over IT networks, controlling settings and creating playlists are now becoming mainstream. Broadcast engineers and technicians can make full use of this new level of IT and video connectivity to realise powerful media management and data exchange capabilities.

However, very few cameras are designed to stream live to connected audiences on the Internet. Systems AC160Aare typically configured to exchange files over FTP or to stream live media using complex TCP/UDP. While these protocols are favoured by broadcasting engineers, they may not be directly compatible with the video streaming services that are dominant in Over-The-Top video streaming sites, such as YouTube Live, Livestream and Justin.TV.

With Teradek’s ViDiU, users can deliver any video source for instant streaming via Livestream, Ustream or any RTMP service, such as Brightcove or Ooyala. VidiU works with Ethernet, 3G, 4G, and WiFi networks and can be set up to broadcast in as little as one minute. Whether users stream the output of the camcorder, vision mixer or production desk, the Teradek device will encode video at the best bitrate the connection will allow. Furthermore, the unit simultaneously allows operators to send live video over local WiFi network so that the feed can be viewed on any Apple iOS device.

“Professional users are increasingly comfortable with optimizing video for on-demand services such as Google Video and YouTube. But, live video streaming can still be a challenge. Teradek’s VidiU is programmed to take the pain out of the process: it’s now incredibly easy to set up and get on air. Panasonic customers taking advantage of this offer will have a new and very powerful tool in their kit bag.” Said Allan Leonhardsen of Holdan, Panasonic and Teradek’s distributor.

For a limited period, Teradek’s VidiU is available free of charge to buyers of new Panasonic AC-130a or AC-160a AVCCAM camcorders from any of Holdan’s approved UK and Ireland resellers.
