6.6 might be a mediocre score in Strictly Come Dancing, but it’s a fantastic score for owners of the Blackmagic’s 4K and 6K pocket cameras. Most of the updates are for the 4K camera, but there are some great new features for new 6K users too.
First, we have support for the new battery grip, which will double the battery life, by allowing you to use 2 Sony L Series batteries. Then we have a clever in camera horizon tool, which should help you avoid sloping lakes and wonky seascapes, unless you are into water-skiing.
Their higher framerate options like 75fps 4096 X 1712 cinemascope style, and 120 fps for high quality slow-mo.
Anamorphic fans are treated to a new 2.8k 2688 X 2160 at up to 80 fps, perfect for use with SLR Magic’s 2X ANAMORPHOT CINE lenses. There is even a de-squeezed preview for both 2X and 1.33X anamorphic shooters.
The Pocket 6K already had those features, but to make sure they don’t feel left out they’ve been treated to the 8X pinch zoom, custom frame ratios, and better autofocus too.
