Panasonic PX270Featuring broadcast HD 4:2:2 codecs from 25 to 200Mb/s, Panasonic’s new microP2 10-bit camcorders will be shown for the first in the UK at BVE 2014. Demonstrated by European distributor Holdan, the AJ-PX270 and AJ-PX5000 bring together all the leading strands in television technology including proxy recording, wireless production, cloud integration, availability for studio or field use and adoption of new low-cost yet robust recording cards.

Richard Payne of Holdan comments:

“It’s the arrival of the new codecs that is most exciting. 10-bit 4:2:2 HD at 25Mb/s is a stunning achievement meaning that broadcast quality HD can be transported over fast broadband networks at high speed and users can record to a single or dual card for hours on end. The 200Mb/s option is just as appealing, with its lossless compression and master-level quality.”

Because of the introduction of this new codec family, broadcast camcorders will enjoy a new level of versatility, being ready for extended-assignment news work at the same time as being able to operate in genres where picture quality is of paramount importance. The ability of the cameras to integrate with cellular, LAN and Wi-Fi networks gives broadcasters the freedom to share data and control systems remotely, whether in the field or in the studio.

Like all Panasonic’s broadcast cameras, a five-year warranty reflects the excellent build quality and reliability of the equipment. As with many recent models, both the PX270 and PX5000 are designed to be upgradable to maintain their cutting edge for years to come.
