Q: Can the DAC-2 output Component Y.U.V. and S (Y/C) at the same time?
A: The DAC-2 can't provide Component Y.U.V. and S (Y/C) output at the same time. To select the Component Y.U.V signal output, disconnect the "S" cable from the S (Y/C) output jack on the rear panel. Plugging in the S (Y/C) cable into the S (Y/C) output jack, will disable the Component Y.U.V. Signal output.
Q: Does the DAC-2 Support Line 21 via Firewire?
A: No, The DAC-2 does not support Line 21 closed captioning.
Q: Does the DAC-2 work with Vegas Video by Sonic Foundry?
A: Yes, the DAC-2 will work with Vegas Video. Please activate your DAC-2 into "Window 2000 mode" as listed below: Please follow the specified order when connecting your DAC-2 with Vegas Video:
  1. The Vegas Video software should not be running. 2. The DAC-2 should be powered on. 3. Switch the DAC-2 to Windows 2000 mode. (NTSC Models Only) (Press the Encode button and hold until both LED's light up above the 12 and 16 bit label and release. 4. Launch the Vegas Video software.
NOTE: Pressing and holding the encode button once more will cause the DAC-2 to switch to normal mode. This is confirmed by the LED's alternating above the 12 and 16 bit label.
  Also NOTE: The DAC-2 will revert back to normal mode when the DV input button is pressed.
Q: Is there a way to connect Balanced audio to the DAC-2?

Q: I am using Avid Xpress DV 3.0 with my DAC-2 and I am getting Pixel blocks on the left hand side of the video output. How can I correct this?
A: Please go to the Deck Configuration menu in Xpress 3.0, select "FireWire on OHCI" connected to "Generic basic device-NTSC". Do not select DataVideo DAC-2, the template in DV Xpress 3.0 does not function correctly with the DAC-2.
Q: My Avid Xpress DV 3.0 is not detecting the DAC-2. I am also getting the following error message "no input signal."
A: This can be caused by installing Windows Service Pack 3 on your Windows 2000 machine. It is recommended that you uninstall Service Pack 3 on your computer. Please refer to the Avid forum regarding this issue:

Q: The DAC-2 is not sending video output from Avid Xpress DV 3/3.5.
A: Please turn off the "Real Time Effects Mode" in the Avid software. Real Time effects mode disables output via FireWire (IEEE/1394).
(The timeline window has a circular button that turns the Real Time mode on or off, Green is On, Blue is Off).
