With tapeless workflows, making multiple copies of each file is crucial for data security. Fusion R400S supports drive cloning to safeguard your assets - it's one of the key benefits of this RAID storage system. Fast, spacious and low-noise, this SATA-connected device will quickly become a crucial part of your editing and content creation process.

  • High Performance, Protected Data - When drives configured as a RAID 5 set, data transfers up to 240 MB/sec read, 220 MB/sec write while protecting the data
  • RAID Controller Onboard - Integrated hardware RAID controller supports RAID 0, RAID 5, RAID 10, Span, and Clone drive configurations on its own; no need for a specialized RAID controller card. Supports JBOD formatting when used with SATA controller that supports port multipliers
  • Simple Cofiguration - A simple switch enables you to select RAID modes and configure the drives to meet your performance and data security needs
  • Simple Status Display - Determine operating status at a glance
  • eSATA Interface - Single cable to host connection simplifies set up and reduces cable clutter
  • Quiet Fans - Low fan noise levels make this Fusion storage system suitable for use in noise-sensitive environments

Performance and Data Security

Data SecurityConsidering a multi-drive storage system? If so, you already know about the benefits of striping data across multiple drives—you’ll gain the abilities to achieve faster performance and protect your files. Sonnet’s Fusion™ R400S RAID rackmount SATA storage system delivers speed, reliability, and versatility in an easy to deploy package. The Fusion R400S RAID system offers enhanced data security, too—it features a high-performance internal RAID controller that manages the enclosed drives and supports RAID 5 drive formatting, which provides data protection in case one of the drives fails. This Sonnet storage system incorporates informative status LEDs, and simple to use controls that enable you to easily configure the drives.

Connected to a Sonnet Tempo™ SATA Pro 6Gb 4-Port or Tempo SATA Pro 6Gb PCIe 2.0 2-port host controller installed in a Mac® or Windows® computer, a Fusion R400S RAID system’s drives can be accessed at speeds exceeding 220 MB/s. With its drives configured as a RAID 5 group (four drives striped with parity across all group members), a single Fusion R400S RAID system achieves data throughput of 240 MB/sec read and 220 MB/sec write. Do you want even more performance? Up to four Fusion R400S RAID systems can be RAIDed on a single Tempo SATA Pro 6Gb 4-Port controller for enhanced data throughput and multiple times the available streams.

Flexible Formatting Options

In addition to RAID 0 and RAID 5, Fusion R400S RAID supports RAID 10, Span, and Clone drive formatting. With RAID 10, two drives are combined into a single volume, while the remaining two drives mirror the data on the first two, providing good performance and better file security. Span formatting combines all four drives' capacity into a single, large volume. Clone formatting provides the most security by mirroring the data from one drive on the other three. The Fusion R400S RAID also provides a JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) formatting option when you connect it to an eSATA controller that supports port multipliers. Whichever mode you choose, setup is as simple as setting a switch.

One Cable, All the Data

The Fusion R400S RAID enclosure requires just a single locking eSATA data cable (included) to connect the enclosure to a SATA host controller card. This efficient interface simplifies setup and cuts cable clutter while offering a significant improvement in data throughput speeds when compared with FireWire® 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 interfaces.

Quiet Enough to Sit Beside You

To keep things cool, the 1U rackmount Fusion R400S RAID system enclosure, at just 1.75" tall, is simple to deploy in most server racks, but can also be used on a desktop. Use of three low noise fans make it suitable for use in noise-sensitive environments, too.

Driving Force

The Fusion R400S RAID storage system employs Sonnet-certified desktop drives that have been selected for their superior performance, error handling, and reliability characteristics, especially when used in RAID groups. These drives are subjected to hours of additional, stringent testing to check for soft errors, vibration, and other reliability predictors. Just the sturdiest drives pass these tests become the building blocks of a super-reliable Fusion storage system.

Versatile Performance

Whether you're editing multiple streams of ProRes HD video, mixing multiple channels of audio, maintaining databases, or running a Web site, you'll find this system ideal for use in a variety of tasks. The flexibility and interoperability that the Fusion R400S RAID storage system provides are a great match for the various operating systems, applications and output demands your workflow requires. This Fusion storage system supports Mac, Windows, and Linux computers.

Customizable Storage Option

Looking for a storage system that is more closely tailored to your needs, one with a lower storage capacity, for instance? Choose the Fusion R400S RAID 0TB—you purchase the drives that best suit your capacity and performance needs, and then install them yourself.

Simple Status Display, S.M.A.R.T. Too

Status LED indicators on the front panel enable you to determine drive presence, activity, fault, and rebuild status at a glance. When used with an eSATA host controller that supports it, the Fusion R400S RAID supports S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) data reporting, enabling you to use your computer's drive formatting program to display drive health.

  • Rackmount disk enclosure
  • Four 3.5" drive trays (0TB model) or drive modules (all other models)
  • One locking eSATA data cable
