A rack-mount HD recorder that captures at 100Mb/s (I frame 4:2:2 colour sampling) sounds good. However, it's the very cost-effective 2.5" disks it records onto that makes the HDR-55 such great value. There's no worry about quickly filling up low capacity SSD disks or solid state media and the transfer into post production or archive is very simple.

The Datavideo HDR-55 is a rackmountable hard drive based video recorder & player, with a removable hard drive enclosure.
The HDR-55 records from standard and high definition video via SDI with a convenient loop through / pass through for monitoring. RS-422 & RS-232 remote control interfaces are standard.
The HDR-55 provides a choice of recording formats including 1080i,720p, 576i and 480i with a choice if IBP or Intraframe(i-frame).
The recorded files are compatible with a wide range of NLE and play out solutions.
The compact 2U design can be easily integrated with other equipment or can be used as a stand alone recorder/player in the studio or on location.
